The singapore eye
The biggest wheelin the world! I feel a bit light headed with all this country hopping , it will be a busy week for me three countries in as many days!!! I flew into Singapore on Monday afternoon and the rain followed me. With less than 24hrs so the best thing to do was to book a tour for the evening . That was excellent fun , there were about 16 of us from a range of hotels and various age groups. we were taken for a brief ride to see some of the highlights , then a meal in a seafood restaurant on one of the trendy quays which was really good. We visited a huge bustling market which really needed more time, as it was I was the last back on the bus! Finally to the very famous Raffles hotel Long bar to have Singapore slings, throw peanut shells on the floor and listen to some very good live music ! The evening should have ended there but there is something about me and high buildings that seems to be the theme for this little tripette of mine. I linked up-with a very nice couple from the Uk and was dragged kicking and screaming
for another drink. The only issue it was 60 or so stories in the air!!!!
The views, and this time I did look ( must have had something to do with the copious wine I was drinking) were fantastic with all Singapore spread below. So thank you you two, it was a great evening and enjoy Bali !
Singapore so my taxi driver told me, is the garden city of Asia based on Cambridge ( not too sure how true that is) But what is certain, they do have very neat and beautiful parks , everything is pristine , they seem to have demolished all the old parts of town and rebuild it , so perhaps a bit sterile. The motor way that speeds you from the airport to the city centre doubles up as an emergency runway!!!!! I cant imagine how that would work it has about 2 metres of bushes and flowers in the middle along its length They have a city which stands on 30% reclaimed land from the sea so that's a fairly strong testimonial to the motivation of this buzzy place. I would have liked to have stayed a day or two longer but
the picturesque island of Bintan called me.
Bintan only an hour by ferry from singapore is part of Indonesia . I really don't know too much about it , the part we are staying in is build on jungle land and the resort is truly magnificent. I have a luxurious villa with a Jacuzzi on the veranda, some villas have their own pools. because i am here for only two days , i haven't done very much other than sleep eat swim and drink not necessarily in that order! It was wonderful catching up with my sis Dav and brother in law Pete . They are on their way back from Oz from visiting their son with whom i will be staying over Christmas. It is magic to think we are in this exotic location half way around the world when at home we live just 15 minutes away from each other! It has been a lovely couple of days thankyou Dav and Pete - sorry I couldnt get you your camera battery charger!!!!
To morrow I fly to Perth for the start of my 6 week adventure in Australia!
wish me luck!
love
Caro
