After some camp and the Womens' World Cup, I am going to Indonesia! The only thing is Indonesia is on the opposite side of the world, so it takes like 2 days to get there. We packed and got ready to go to the airport. Ania will drive us since she has a different flight. When we got to the airport she gave us hugs and then we went through security. We then boarded our first flight which was to Switzeraland which took 9 hours! After, we went on a plane to Thailand which took another 10 hours. When we got to Thailand, we finally took a 3 hour flight to Jakarta, Indonesia.
We got there about 3 o'clock and got a taxi to our hotel. The hotel was awesome! It had a huge swimming pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. My dad and I were very tired so we just got out bathing suits on and relaxed at the pool. We went back to our room to take a shower and then went to dinner. Dinner was very good. it was some Pad Thai and spicy rice. We finally and gladly went to sleep.
The next day all we did was pick up Ania but we returned to the hotel and stayed there for 3 hours. When took a bus to the airport, a plane to Yogyakarta and then drove to Borobudur. When we go to the hotel it was late and we were all tired so we went to bed.
Today, or I should say this morning, we woke up at 430 am to go to Borobudur temple to see the sunrise. It was beautiful. On the temple was the bell shaped things called stupas. Inside the stupas were Buddhas. Also, the walls were carvings of different stories. To get refreshed we went to the pool at our hotel and then returned to the temple. We then went to a different temple which had a big Buddha inside with incense. We then went to the room to sleep.
We woke up knowing it was going to be a big day! We at an Asian breakfast with rice and noodles. After, we took a horse carriage to ride elephants. Ania had one and my dad and I had one. Their name was Bona and Lizzie. It was a
30 minute ride. We past by an outdoor market that were going to after. It was a beautiful ride. We said good bye to Bona and Lizzie to go to the market. I bought presents for my friends - little Buddha heads. I got a shirt for school pics. After that, we took a hoarse carriage around to different villages. The first stop was a rice cake place. Before we were taught how to make them, we had a snack. There were banana little roles of some sort and more. It was delicious. The owner showed us how to make rice cakes. We tried them and they taste awesome. So we bought them. We then went to a place where they made coffee. But this coffee was different. It was kind of like animal made because a different type of animal eats the coffee beans and then poops it out. I called it "poop coffee". They wash it and make it into coffee. It tasted very bitter so I put some sugar in it and it tasted good. The next place as where they make brown sugar. It was made from coconut. The person there gave us little brown sugar
cookies that tasted so goooooooood!. Outside there was little chicks and Ania caught one. Then we went to a place where they make tofu. It wasn't that interesting though. We got back on the horse carriage to go to a place where they make silver. We then finally made it back to the hotel, but we weren't finished. We got ready to go to a very nice fancy restaurant called El Patio. It was amazing! I had steak, Ania had fish, and my dad had duck. After an amazing dinner we went back to the hotel and slept.
After a restful night of sleep we woke up and went to breakfast. After breakfast our driver for the day came to pick us up. We first went to a craton sultan panembaha which is an active government base. It wasn't that interesting. But then we went to sort of a park with HUGE Banyan trees. The thing is your supposed to blindfold yoruself and walk between the 2 trees while thinking of a wish. If you walk between the trees, your wish will come true. I tried 3 times. The first time I did horrible, the second time
I was close, and the third time I made it! Ania tried but she kind of did....BAD. My dad tried, and he was close. When we were done we went to a place where they make batik. It can be used as a scarf, a think that muslim women put around their head, and more that has a pattern. The first trace the pattern, then put wax on it and then stamp. My favorite part was when they put it in an acid to make it colored. We went into the shop and Ania bought a pretty scarf. Next we went to the market to shop. We first ate lunch in the mall and then we split up. At the end Ania and I got henna. I love henna and it turned out beautiful. In a rush we went to Prambanan temple. Around the big temple were little versions of the bigger one. Inside the temples there were gods and goddesses, Ganesh and more. We left the temple but first we got street food. We got chicken on a stick and a spinach thing with dough. After that we went back to the hotel.
The next day we were
leaving Borobudur. Borobudur has been awesome!
