The Group Back Together!
And yes I am showing the guy taking the photo how to push the button! James & I arrived late in Bali, we found a good hotel & just went to bed straight away. We were both looking forward to seeing Lingy tomorrow.
In the morning we woke up to some bad news... Richard's flight had been cancelled, something about a truck driving into his plane!! Like a massive plane is that hard to avoid! It meant that Richard was going to be coming all the way from England for not long at all. We'll have to make the most of it.
So instead James and I decided to head to the beach and play around in the waves. It was pretty funny because we were both scaring each other when seaweed touched our legs because we had it in our heads it was jellyfish or sharks! Then James decided to go back to the beach and I realised I had my watch on (it was waterproof but I didn't want to risk it), I called to him to take it back for me and was just taking it off when a massive wave K.O'd me!! Needless to say the watch flew off my wrist! I was frantically searching for it as Marlow was

And yes i'm already showing signs of a pro surfer! laughing away when another massive wave headed my way, and I had my back to it! Being the good friend that James is you'd have expected a warning wouldn't you? Nope...another K.O and a lost watch!
So i'm very sorry to everyone at Optident who bought me the watch...but I lost it! It will be sadly missed as it was the most useful present that I had received before I left.
That night we went to get food at a local bar and we met a guy called Gol who offered to give us surfing lessons the next day. We decided to book it without asking Richard first because we didn't have much time and we knew Rich would be up for it.
Some more bad news the followin morning, Richard's flight didn't get in until 1pm, he wasn't going to have much time with us at all, just 3 full days! James & I decided it was best to get our surfing lessons over with & then pick Rich up from the airport. We both had a wicked time and then headed to see Rich.
It was really great to see Rich and catch up
Surfing Lesson No.1
I hadn't fallen off...honest!
I got off to pose for the picture! again after 3 months away. He was a little overdressed for Bali (Still in his winter woollies!) and must have been boiling so we headed back to the hotel to change before going straight to the beach for his lesson. He did really well considering it must have felt like the middle of the night to him!
We wanted to keep Rich awake for as long as possible so he'd get over his jet-lag quickly, he did well, we didn't get back that evening until we'd been for a meal and had a quick drink in the bar. I bet he wanted to die after 2 days with no sleep!
Once again the following day we headed to the beach for another surf lesson each. James managed to snap the massive board we had been using, so Rich & I had to surf on the shorter and much more difficult board. Clearly Marlow didn't have the same style and natural talent that Rich and I had because we managed to get through the lessons without breaking anything or injuring ourselves!... Some people have it, some don't!!
Having said all this, Richard did come away from the beach
Surfing Lesson No.1
Yes I know the wave is 2 inch tall... but I make it look big don't I!!!...Or shouldn't I say easy, yeah I make it look easy not big! with 1st degree burns!!... Suncream is there for a reason Rich! January in England and January in Bali are slightly different love!... Next time ay!
After nursing his burns and covering up in aftersun, Rich, James and myself headed out for a proper night out. It was really good to have a night out with Rich again and we stayed out until 4am.
The next day we went to the beach yet again, Rich stayed in the shade whilst James & I tried to surf using a board we had rented. It's much harder with out a teacher to push you onto the wave at the right time, but still loads of fun all the same. I was really having fun in Bali & had loved the last 3 months in Asia. I really wasn't looking forward to Australia, it sounds weird but I was used to the life in Asia & loved it!
Richard however clearly hadn't done his research before coming out... He had brought with him 350 quid for the 4 days and by all accounts I reckoned that that was about 300 quid too much!!! It's probably 3 months wage here, we aint staying

Out for a meal before heading to the bars... in the Hilton Rich! haha
Another big night and this time we didn't get back until 6am, both James & I were headed to Oz the next day and we wanted to make the most of it.
Our last day and for some reason James & I decided it was a good idea to each buy a surfboard!! A decision we are sure to regret but we figured we'd have fun in Oz with them....dodging sharks!
We spent some time at the beach (Again!), packed our things and just chilled out. I didn't really want to leave but my visa was only for 7 days and I might like Oz. Time to say bye to Richard and head to Darwin... See you in New Zealand Lingy!!
