This morning, we drove up to Candi Dasa (about an hour north of Sanur) so Diane could dive and I could hang out at the resort by the pool and ocean. The sun was out and the drive up was very pretty…so lush. It’s funny seeing people walking their pigs on leashes and their herds of ducks, while all the stray dogs run wild. Never in America! We passed rice paddy terraces, which I am obsessed with and think I was a rice farmer in a previous life.
Diane was the only one diving today, so on the drive up it was just Diane, Toto (dive master and magician), the driver and me. Toto did magic tricks the whole way and we tried to figure them out to no avail. The resort where they took the boat out to the dive spot was very nice and very deserted! I was the only one hanging out there so had the pool and the ocean to myself with about 4 wait staff! It was great. I ended up getting a massage ($7/hr!) right there on the lounge chair by the pool. I can get used to this. I also swam most of
Bali mountains
on the way to Candi Dasa the day. We had lunch there after Diane’s two dives and then headed back to Sanur.
Of course, we couldn’t end our last night in Bali without another romantic night out! We had our driver take us to the best restaurant on the island - Ke De Ta in Seminyak. It didn’t disappoint. It was very swank and on the beach with the ocean lit up! They had a famous DJ spinning and we ordered the pairing menu which was fan-tab-ulous. We definitely went out in style.
