Leaving Thursday didn't happened... The public ferry was canceled, when i arrived back at Mandala after a sad departure on both sides all 4 boys were smiling from ear to ear!! I moved into a different room as lovely as the last, but without the amazing view!
I spent the day on the beach, then dosa, before a walk along the beach at sunset.
Bevan and Frankie had gone on a day canoe back water trip at 7.30am that morning, so i said goodbye before falling back into a deep sleep. When they arrived home, i was sitting at the waters edge taking in the beautiful sunset, when Bevan shouted my name from behind, a huge smile on his face he approached 😊 Before another beach takeaway Bevan thanked the boys for arraging for the ferry to be cancelled, and we sat with Emily and Franke playing cards. After a yummy dinner we made our way to the beach where we drank beer, danced and spoke into the night. The next day packed, showered and paid, i said another final goodbye to the boys of Mandala...The public ferry was more or less empty whe i arrived at 2.15 but as the
time ticked by it became fuller and fuller, one of the last people to get on was an old Indian man, he had many very large bags and was taking trips from the boat to the port and back again, i stood up and offered my hands in help, at first he refused, but i insited and we got the work done in half the time, smiles on both our faces and looks of shock on everyone else. The Indian every man for himself mentality was really showing! He sat next to me and we spoke in broken English for 40mins before he disimbarked halfway between Alleppey and Kottoyam, he told me of his small resturant and we shared a bag of crips. It was lovely to talk and something i wouldn't have done if i wasn't alone. My first jounery alone didn't end as planned though, when i arrived in Kottoyam at 5pm i had planned to take a bus to Munnar, considering the time i was talked into taking a very expensive cab... Oppss! Lesson learnt: Plan ahead!! Leave early!!The 4hr jounry up the hill was a beautiful ride and as we climbed higher and higher it got
colder and colder, i was so happy when half way up it rained! The heat in Kerela is getting to the stage of over bearing, so it was lovely to be chilled by the cool wind.Fiona, Laura and Lauran had now be ing Munnar for 2 days and had spent the entire time trekking so when i arrived a day of rest was in order... We ate, chatted and walked around the town a little bit but unfortunatly i didn't venture into the tea fields. The next afternoon Fiona and I split ways with her friends who headed off to Bangalore to catch a flight to Dehi.Fiona and I started a 150Km jounery to Kodialkanel... Which took almost 12Hours!!!!
