Manali's Transport System
This was our first option for making the transition from Manali to Leh. We opted instead for the 16 hour jeep ride. Still not sure if we shouldn't have taken the elephant.

Our sturdy ship
Here it is. This little guy carried 11 brave and trusting souls through the gates of the Himalayas.

Here's Dave takingh a little rest at about hour 12 of the drive, which would be about hour 10 of the vomiting marathon. Never will you meet a cheerier fellow with worse breath.

Ladye Anne makes every stupa (religious monument)look beautiful.

Ladye Anne's Friend
Ladye makes friends everywhere she goes. Check out this woman's shades. Uber-cool, for a Ladakhi grandmother.

Ladye's Guide in Nubra
This "elderly" woman led Ladye on a strenuous hike near the Valley of Flowers. I think Ladye wants to be an old Ladakhi woman when she grows up.
