We arrived in Yercaud many hours later than planned - our train was delayed by 4 hours. As we chugged our way through the wee hours of the morning, I hoped waiting at the train station until 3 a.m. was worth it. There is no worse feeling then struggling to reach a destination only to have disappointment set in. After 5 hours in the train, we hopped in a rick, zoomed across town to the bus station, climbed into the bus heading out of Salem Junction through the hills to Yercaud. After 20 hairpin bends (they were numbered so that's how I know there are 20 😊) through the winding Eastern Ghats, we finally arrived at Grange Resort. This quaint resort is made up of 13 cabins tucked inside 100 acres of orchards and coffee plantations.

As we were negotiating those bends, I knew that I wouldn't be disappointed. Every new curve brought even lovelier views. The mountains, the orchards, the trees, everything was serene and peaceful. Living in the midst of Chennai, it's easy to forget there are so many beautiful places in India. The cool breezes and mist-covered mornings were a welcome change from the heat of the city. Unfortunately, we only had a day and a half to spend in Yercaud, but that just leaves more for us to explore the next time around 😊

Our train was delayed - it left at 3 a.m. instead of 11 p.m. We weren't the only ones with a difficult night.
