What a beautiful town and on the face of it it appears quite tidy. Our hotel is the Fatah Pradesh Palace where the kings who used to hunt at The Aodhi (our last stop at Kumbalgarh), lived.
Our room was lovely with the most beautiful view of the lake and across to the Lake Palace. This town is often called The Venice of The East and from our boat ride the next evening we could certainly see why. The set up where we stayed was quite strange.. we needed to take a golf buggy to breakfast to the pool and to the front gate to get into the old town. Also had to carry a pass as " the previous royal family" was in residence.
Had a tour of the city palace the next day at 9...lovely but hundreds of tourists (foreign and domestic) and to be honest that turned us off future such tours. We have been lucky with few tourists up to now but now they are showing up in force. We will be selective now on the tours which are all prearranged, but we have managed to persuade Ms Ritu and the others at Gets Travel that it is no reflection on them...We go out to dinner in the old town on the first night up little streets dodging motor scooters and cows and find a neat little place called
Lotus...cheap as chips and lovely meal.
Had a drive around town and around the lakes with Raj and guide...Lakes are all man made and look very polluted. The guide proudly told us that all the rubbish plastic and all was now bring collected and dumped in the mountains. ..unbelievable..!
Boat trip on the last evening was lovely and we got some great photos which hopefully I will manage to post one day.
After 2 lovely nights we are off to Lake Nahargarh Palace to a suite room which on the Web looks beautiful....
