The Palm Reader of the Mighty Citadel Mehrangarh

Despite the fact that the hotel is advertising WiFi service of course they do not actually have it. After all we're still in India. But I found a nice little cafe around the corner with complimentary WiFi. After breakfast we walked through the narrow roads of old town up to the mighty citadel. The views from up there are quite spectacular. And unlike the castles of Jaipur Mehrangarh houses at least some ancient artworks and furniture as well as old weaponry and wall paintings. So it was actually quite interesting. At the end of the tour we stumbled upon local palm reader legend Mr. S.L. Sharma and I got my past and future told, for a donation to the Mehrangarh preservation fund. My initial scepticism turned into total astonishment when he was unbelievably accurate about me and my past. Interesting experience, to say the least!
On our way back we stopped at a antiques store for a chat with the owner while enjoying some tea. Strolled through old town for the rest of the afternoon.

Obwohl das Hotel mit WiFi wirbt bedeutet das nicht, dass dem auch so ist. Wir sind schliesslich immer noch in Indien. Aber dann fand ich ein kleines nettes Cafe mit Dachterrasse gleich um die Ecke und kostenlosem WiFi. Nach dem Fruehstueck wanderten wir durch die engen Gassen der Altstadt hoch zum imposanten Kastell. Der Ausblick von dort oben ist ziemlich spektakulaer. Und ausserdem ist Mehrangarh auch interessanter als die Festungen von Jaipur, da man hier auch antike Kunst, Moebel, Miniaturgemaelde, Alte Waffen und Wandmalereien sehen kann. Am Ende des Rundgangs trafen wir auf den hier bekannten Handleser S.L. Sharma. Und fuer eine Spende an den Mehrangarh Restaurierungsfond wurde mir meine Vergangenheit und Zukunft erzaehlt. Meine Skepsis weichte totaler Verblueffung als er mir mit erstaunlicher Praezision mein bisheriges Leben beschrieb! Faszinierendes Erlebnis!
Auf dem Weg zurrueck hielten wir an einem Antiquitaetenladen und hatten eine nette Unterhaltung mit dem Besitzer bei einer Tasse Masala Tee. Den Rest des Tages spazierten wir durch die Altstadt.
