This spider update is specially for Euan. (and Duncan and Iona)....The spider was released fom the wardrobe and chased round the room by lots of the child who were
"trying" to help...and then it got squashed. In other animal news lionel was again spotted in Titi's bathroom (who thought it was a plastic toy and then freaked out when it moved) therefore her bathroom was unused for a day and then he mysteriously disappeared............

Other species - wise I was calmly reading Great Expectations (which i finshed by the way - quite good) sitting on our porch next to a flimsy tree that signaled the start of the overgrowth when.........CRASH. A HUGE langur (oversized scary monkey with a very very long tail - they have them in zoo's) landed in the tree right next to me nearish the ground. I was on my own and it was soooo scary i screamed and ran inside and shut the door and told the others and we all stared out the window at this huuuuuge thing. Definately got my blood pumping especially since i've seen two people get attacked by the smaller monkeys since i've been here) One of which was my friend siobhan who had a plastic bag and got jumped on for it because it had fruit in. sooo scary especially as i was right next to her...have been wary of plastic bags ever since...

That is the end of this weeks animals news bulletin but join us next week where inevitably we will battles more creepy crawlies and maybe even a panther (apparently they live in the hills near the school!) love to all xxxxxxxx

Wildlife
Hi katie. I sent you an email but I don't know if it got to you. Some of it was about spiders. I too have a huge spider phobia but in India I didn't see a single one because I just pretended there weren't any - never looked in dark corners, and was usually too knackered to care. Louis found a picture of the biggest spider in the world. A monster that eats birds, but you are very lucky because it lives in Brazil. Monkeys are a pain. They are allowed to wander all over the places of interest you want to see and are even encouraged because they represent the god Hanuman. I think Rajasthan is full of them. We are really enjoying your blog - do you think you could continue it when you go travelling. Have they got Cyber cafes there now, in the cities at least? I'm such an old fart I have no idea what India is like now and it'll be so fascinating to hear about what's changed. Katie, I really hope you enjoy your travels. Read some Kipling. Kipling? Rudyard work but it's worth it. We'll keep watching this space for more exciting instalments..... lots of love from the London MacKinnons xxxxx
