we finally arrive to a room for the night
Well our first night in India was not the most welcoming one. We arrived to the new delhi airport at around 12:30, got a cab to our hostel we booked to find there was no room. we were taken to a 24 hour tourist center, where a gentleman tried to sell us his entire travel package for india. we explained we only wanted a hotel for the night, but alas, he told us all the hotels were booked..we would be better to get on a train that night to go to another city. i asked to speak to some hotels directly, as we were both quite suspicious of all of delhi being conveniently booked. the fellow became quite offended that we didn't trust him. this went on for hours. eventually, he found one spot left in a good hotel. it was in the "richest part of town." hmmmmm. well, we woke up our taxi driver and arrived to MegaPalace...don't let the name fool you, its an armpit of a place. for $100, we could stay in this cesspool. no thanks, we contemplated waiting outside until the sun came up, going back to the airport, walking home. 😞
our driver eventually took us to another tourism spot, where they were not trying to sell anything. they found us a decent, reasonable place for the night. we got to our room at 5am, after 2 days straight of flying. whew. we prayed for a better day.

our prayers were answered. we were able to get in contact with Scott and Kashmira Baldauf, who generously invited us in to their house. They fed us, housed us, set up future india travels for us. It was a refreshing welcome to india.

our plans for the rest of india consist of 4 days in the foothills of the Himalayas at a ranch, some time in agra, rajasthan, bombay, and goa.

we'll keep you all posted on our future adventures and hopefully get some photos up soon. thanks for the support and prayers.. they are felt, even 6000 miles away.
