Hi all,

been in Delhi for 3 days now. The flight on Air India was the noisiest most chaotic ever (great food though) but it was an oasis compared to the actual country.

The air here is so bad you can see it. The traffic is crazy like most asian cities but here it appears they actually have accidents - EVERY car looks like it has been used in a demolition derby.

There are cows, pigs, goats, chickens and one monkey in the streets so far. But the most annoying thing is the people who latch onto you to 'practice their English' who end up taking you to a 'government' travel info centre where they must be getting a commission. I have been very rude to some of them.

The first day we arrived there was a traders 'bandh' (strike) which made life difficult. There were concerns there would be riots like last week but it all went smoothly. We had to eat McDonalds because it was the only thing open.

Food has been great otherwise. No sickness yet.
Lots of English language TV (simpsons, seinfeld) which is lovely after a month of only having chinese propaganda TV.

Hotel is OK - we have hot water 30 mins after we ask for it (better than a lot of Tibet).

Tour starts in two days time and we will be off to Agra (Taj Mahal)

PS Pottery guys - yes there were a few rabbits at the great wall - but they were in a pen - we guessed they were for lunch.
