Monday the 28th - Headstand Day
Finally I sat down to write a little bit. The weekend’s been quite busy… Lectures, new yoda class (we’re advanced now!!!) There’s always so much I wanna tell you, but then I don’t have my laptop and forget about it… will start taking notes!
Yeah, Friday was pretty intense. Cities in India are just incredibly busy and stressful, especially when you spent the past week in an Ashram in the middle of nowhere. Sorry, if I didn’t get back to everyone personally! I didn’t really do that much during the day, it just all took forever. The Internet was incredibly slow and kept crashing… So I wasn’t able to book any further flights, but I enden up finding an nicer, quieter and FASTER Inet café later on, so that’s where I’m gonna head this upcoming Friday. Anyways, I was exhausted Friday night and still had a hard time paying attention in class Saturday (three lectures anatomy & physiology, who woudn’t fall asleep???!!!) Saturday night they always have this special chanting session where one Mantra is being chanted 108 times while someone’s burning a small fire. Does sound like a cult - well, it’s
not. It’s just supposed to worship nature and keep the Spirit of this place alive. In general, this is a very open minded place, as far as religion is concerned. If we sing Chants, they’re mostly about Mother Nature or the Sun, which is considered God, cause nothing would be here without the sun. No one’s forces to participate, everyone can pray or not pray to whomever they like.
Yesterday was awesome, we had lectures in Ayurveda. The Ashram invites lots of people here, especially doctors to hold lectures, so we get good knowledge about the non-yogic site of things. Last night also, an Endocrinologist came and we could ask him questions about hormones and Yoga.
Today we finally learned the headstand in class. Excitement! Love the headstand. Just need to keep practicing. My knee’s been bothering me somewhat lately, but I got some ayurvedic meds (tastes incredibly yucky) and just hope it’ll get better…. Hmm, what else… no further snakes, just cute little stay puppies, which we’re not supposed to touch and feed. I’ve been very good with not touching and only sneak out potatoes from dinner occasionally. I’ve gotta get going now, my next lecture starts in
10 Minutes…
Hari om guys!
Wednesday, the 30th of September - First day in silence
So, two weeks already - amazing how fast time goes by… Today was just exhausting! But let me start at the beginning. Yesterday, the other TTC (teacher training course) had their last night. For the last night, the students cook dinner. We’re pretty multinational, so the variety of food was amazing… and Yummy!!! We all stayed up pretty late (10:30 pm) so getting up this morning was bad - plus we were all pretty food hung over. I didn’t even know there was such thing! But we were all feeling yucky! Oh, and the washing machine is broken again and I hand washed today. One thing I REALLY MISS: Good washing machines and awesome smelling fabric softener. It’s so hard to get you clothes halfway clean here. If there is power and the machine actually works, it only washes cold. If you want hot water, you need to hand wash stuff and your hand look like shit afterwards!
So then we had our first writing assignment today. Open book with preparation - so no big stress, but still a lot
of work. So, before the exam we actually started chanting Omkars, which I thought was kinda weird, well, it’s still an Ashram :-) I’ll write more about chanting and Yogic living one other time…
OK, big news: I just decided yesterday that I wanna spend some time in silence and I started today. Yeah, I know what you think... But I actually haven’t talked to anyone all day and I’m feeling great. I feel like talking all the time just drains your energy. The only thing that really made me think was when Bettina (roommate) said today “When you don’t talk, it’s almost as if you’re not there.” I still love being in silent. Gonna continue tomorrow. I have this little sign around my neck, so everyone knows… Still I’m looking forward to being in the City on Friday. Need to book some flights and plan my further time in India! Going to bed now, it’s 9 pm already!
Miss all of ya <3
Thursday 1st Octobre - second day of silence
So, today was the second day of silence… I’m getting used to it :-) But tonight I actually started talking again… That felt good, too. Definitely gonna do it again next week. What I noticed is the following: being silent you majorly communicate with your eyes. So there is no shouting after people, no talking with your back turned to people, that’s different. And it totally makes you aware of how much useless stuff you talk during the day. Nothing much going on other than that. We learned Swan pose today… balancing your body on your hands and forearms… still need to practice. The tendons in my right wrist are sore like hell. Need to get a wrist support tomorrow. YEAH! Tomorrow is our day off. I’m so looking forward to going online! And ‘sleeping in’ until 6 am! Still love it here, though, so no Ashram crisis so far :-)
Hari om
Friday, 2nd Octobre - day off :-)
So, I'm back in Nashik City! I'm excited and we already had an Iced Coffee :-) Just about to book flights and stuff for my further travel! Will let you guys know where I'm heading as soon as I know...
More later!
