Hellooooooooooo,
After leaving Fort Kochi we made our way back up into the hills to Munnar on the Western Ghats. At around 2000 Meters it was quite chilly again but so stunningly lush. A small town literally surrounded by rolling hills of bright green tea, rivers and forest. On both the couple of days that we spent there we managed to disappear into the surrounding hills breathing in that amazing clean, crisp air.
From Munnar we headed down, back into Tamil Nadu to Pollachi where we sadly had to stay a little longer that expected due to me eating some dirty rice, getting another bonus sickness for a few days. Chistof was so good to me though feeding me plenty of cheap tasting chocolate eclairs so i was soon on the mend and we on our way to Indira Gandhi National Park. Such a beautiful area of this county, a diverse variety of vegetation with over 2000 species of plants many of which are medicinal. Sadly we saw no tigers but a few happy elephants and a big buffalo did pop their heads out of the forest so we came away pretty happy.
We are now in the
state of Karnataka, still on the West coast but slightly inland. Our first stop was the second largest city in Karnataka - Mysore. It was hear that we spent our very first wedding anniversary having a candle lit dinner on a roof top right in the middle of town. We chomped down on some rather amazing and much needed spiced meat, washing it down with far too many beverages, tres relaxing.
After a very slow start the next day we went for a mooch around the wonderfully grand Mysore Palace. It was a fantastic place and we managed to get a couple of those audio head sets to give us all the information that we could possibly want. Dad, please note that the Architectural style is commonly described as Indo- Saracenic, blending together Muslim, Hindu, Rajput and Gothic styles. (i hope that you are very pleased with me for that burst of knowledge and note that i do pay attention in places of interest)
We arrived late yesterday in Mangalore after a long and very bumpy journey, hopefully tomorrow we will head up the coast to try and find some more beach action. Hope everyone is happy and well
at home
lots and lots of love, hugs and kisses,
