Bengaluru to Goa road trip is quite popular, especially among the youth, but you have to be prepared for the long travel time. On a drive between Bengaluru and Goa, there are quite a few route options to choose from, and all routes lead to picturesque sights and guarantee an extraordinary experience.

The road distance from Bengaluru to Goa is about 560 km, though it can extend to more than 600 km depending on the route you pick for the drive. Route 1 - Via Chorla Ghat

The distance between Bengaluru to Goa via Chorla Ghat is approximately 626 km and the road leads straight into North Goa. This route takes you from Bengaluru via Tumkur to Belgaum unto Chorla and finally, Goa. Sira and Haveri are two places of historical significance that you can visit on the way to Belagavi (Belgaum). After you cross Belagavi (Belgaum), you can take a slight detour to the spectacular Surla Falls. The drive after that is dotted with pleasing views of the backwaters of Keri dam and the rolling hills of Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary along the way.

Route 2 - Via Amboli Ghat

This route starts from Bengaluru and leads you into North Goa. The in-between places are Belgaum, Amboli Ghat and Samantwadi. The distance between the two places via this route is approximately 667 km and the drive is breathtakingly beautiful, especially during monsoons. Throughout the ride, you are treated by a myriad of lovely cascades and there are pleasing sights of verdant valleys. Make sure to stop by the mesmeric Amboli Waterfalls to make this journey all the more memorable.

Route 3 - Via Anmod Ghat

The distance between Bengaluru and Goa is a relatively shorter one, only 597 km, via Anmod Ghat. This route takes you from Bengaluru via Chitradurga to Hubli and Dharwad to Anmod and then into North Goa. Chitradurga houses the Chitradurga Fort made of huge stones and oil cauldrons and is a must-visit for history lovers. From Dharwad, the road takes you through the Mahadayi Wildlife Sanctuary and is a blissful drive from there to Goa.

Route 4 - Via Jog Falls

Soak in the loveliness of nature from Bengaluru to Goa via Jog Falls, which is a drive of approximately 595 km. The road begins from Bengaluru to Jog Falls via Shimoga into Honnavar and then straight into South Goa. Take a detour to Jog Falls and enjoy its stunning sights. The drive from there to Honnavar is through Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary where you must stop over at the Bangara Kusuma Falls and the amazing view-points of the valley. At Honnavar, see the confluence of Sharavathi River and the sea. There onwards, the drive is along the coast and indescribably pristine.

Route 5 - Via Twin Falls

The route from Bengaluru to Goa, via Twin Falls, covers a distance of 673 km and is the longest to cover. However, enchanting sceneries keep you company all through. The journey begins in Bengaluru to Hubli, then Magod Falls, Vibhuti Falls and finally into South Goa. On the way to Magod falls, make sure to stop over to enjoy the scenes of the serene Kavadi Kere lake. You can also take a detour to visit the Karwar beach right before you enter Goa for the holiday of a lifetime.

While monsoon is the perfect time to embark on this road trip (via any of the above-mentioned routes), the scenery is just as beautiful all year round.
