31st December 2008 NEW YEARS EVE
Today we spent resting up and saving ourselves for this evening’s party. Pili & I finally made our way down to the beach at 10:30 pm. William, Ajay & Preity join us and Pili hit it off straight away with them. I make the rounds in the bar getting everyone on film while Pili learns a few Bollywood dance moves from Adu & Pretty. We also pop over the next bar to see Nisar and his wife Nicky from the book shop; we have a Honey Bee and do some photos and then head back to the bar. We finally left with our new friend Nick at 4am and decide that we need one last one for the road and found a bar called ‘O’ Pescador’. Another beer and I was just finding my groove even if it was with a definite wobble. I decided to have a dance to some soul music and attracted several gay guys. I was totally oblivious and was a big bag of amusement to Pili and Nick who just sat and watched from the bar, thanks guys!!!! I have no idea what time we left and it doesn’t
really matter. We had a most excellent New Years Eve and it’s hard to believe we spent it in India and with some excellent people. It’s been an enventful year; this time last year who would have thought that Pili would pack her job in and that we’d have travelled around Tonga, New Zealand got drunk in Sydney, Australia and spent Christmas and New Year in Goa, India. We still have Borneo, Thailand, Vietnam a Cambodia all to do in 2009……LIFE’S GOOD!
1st January 2009 NEW YEARS DAY
The first morning of the New Year was spent in bed. Pili had developed a chest infection of some kind. At 1pm we headed towards to beach and caught up with everyone’s adventures the previous night. Geordie John was hammered and I kept a watch on him in the sea. I really needn’t have bothered as John swims like a bloody dolphin. The resident loopy beach woman, Vasenti, decided to give Geordie a massage and pedicure. We were all in fits of laughter especially when Pili persuaded her to paint his toenails bright red, he didn’t even notice.
We sat and watched a beautiful sunset and then had a

Nick is travelling around India on a Enfield Bullet motorbike gorgeous curry for dinner then back to the apartment, what a great way to start the New Year.
2nd January 2009
Pili was really rough this morning, she had a terrible night and even had trouble breathing at one point. After making her breakfast and some medication I left her to rest in bed and I headed for the beach. I spent the day lazily and Pili eventually joined me a 6pm, she has almost completely lost her voice much to the amusement of everyone.
We sat with Lizzie & Baz for a while and were very relieved when Baz offered to hand deliver my broken hard drive to my moms when they return home. This takes away a major worry for me and I’m so grateful, when we get back home we will treat them to a good night out.
3rd January 2009
Today Pili’s illness has taken hold of me also, I have a really tight chest, sore throat my voice is also on the way out. It seems everyone has come down with this bug.
Pili start the day early with Adu and Preity who take her for a traditional Goan
It's starting to get messy
New Years Eve in Bobbies Beach Shack breakfast, I stay in bed and let them get on with it, I’m feeling too rough to be sociable at this time in the morning.
In the afternoon we go and get some medication and answer a few emails. John and Valerie arrive tomorrow at 6am, we arrange for Vinny to go and collect them and Pili has insisted she’ll also go, it’ll be a 4am start!
Today we mostly just chilled and felt sorry for ourselves. In the evening we went down to the beach shack to say goodbye to Lizzie and Baz, we waited for an hour but they didn’t show, so decided to head up to the Sports Bar to get some pizza. On our arrival we found Ranjeet sat watching the football on the big screen so we joined him for a drink. Shortly after Jersey John arrived, they we’re both really on form tonight and had us in hysterics within moments, this was soon to come to an abrupt end!! A guy walked in with a couple of pals and made big, big deal out of seeing Ranjit who was at the bar. He then came over to our table and kissed Jersey
Pili, Nicky and Nisar at The Big Banana
These guys have become very dear friends John squarely on the lips, full on. We were all in shock and I saw in John’s eyes a twitch and a red mist descend upon him. I caught his eye and motioned for us to leave it and move on. Pili had in the mean time followed my lead and had headed for the bar to get the bill. I had already told her that Ranjeet had taken care of it, but she ignored me and went to check for herself. This was a mistake because as I went to get Pili out of the bar and avoid a conflict, John had gone of to the guy and questioned him “what the F**k was that kissing about?”, the guy just shrugged and laughed, BANG, BANG, BANG! John hit him three times before the guy could react. I immediately jumped in and pulled John away. The offending guys three mates also got up and started to run over, I shouted at them they better sit down, NOW which thankfully they did. Of course the whole attention of the bar was on us by now. I caught Pili’s eye and told her to stay put while I got the guys out
of the bar and out of escalating trouble, she knows the routine. 1 - sit out of trouble, 2 - let me deal with it, 3 - NEVER get involved and finally 4 - wait for me until I come and get her when it’s safe. Eventually all was settled although it did until 3am and a few Honey Bees to persuade Ranjeet and John to go to bed and not to war!!
