We have been lazing around Goa these last few days. Following a spectacular monsoon storm the night of our arrival we have been treated to blue skies, warm wind and beautiful sunshine. We swim in the sea, we read, we eat, we do crossword puzzles and we scooter around. Scootering here is not quite what it is in Vancouver. We have rented a 100 cc Honda for 5 dollars a day. Sans mirrors, and a left turn signal it gets us around. I am skeptical about the brakes but luckily the horn works so we are able to oblige the trucks marked 'horn please, Ok" We asked about helmets and were told there are none. Chris drives and I hang on, hair streaming behind me performing bike signals as needed closing my eyes and hoping for the best when he decides to pass. The roads are potholed and obstacles include cows, dogs and roads too narrow for more than one lane of traffic.

Much in Goa is not open for the season yet. However, we are going to see if we might be able to do some diving. If not, our helpful guesthouse owners have offered us two life preservers to frolic in the surf!
