Trying to find time to write this Blog has been impossible - we’ve been busy with people coming and going, us moving apartment, Christmas and New Year.
Most of you will know what’s about to follow in the next few paragraphs because you were here in Goa - for the rest of you, happy reading!!!
Ruby & Brian arrived (that’s Barry’s Mum & Dad for those that don’t know) at the beginning of December and took up residence in our old apartment in Sun Park where they have settled in very nicely and are loving the retirement lark. We’ve also settled into our new place which is a stones throw away from Sun Park and is far more private, has more space and better parking facilities for the car and bike…..this pad would cost a fortune in the UK!!
December at the bar was quite slow, it was partly the greedy British Tour Companies fault, they almost doubled prices for the festive period; that coupled with the fact that Goa was on High Alert due to terrorism threats didn’t help, it’s no wonder that people decided to stay at home. To be honest it was a blessing in disguise
Butterfly Beach
Deserted - until we all arrived by boat for us because otherwise we wouldn’t have fit all FIFTEEN of the family that had decided to invade us for Christmas into the bar.
The family holiday was great - first time we reckon, in ten years that the whole Sullivan, Cumming, Smith families have been together. What a great Christmas we had, we had a few drunken nights (remember that one Scott)???. Basically the “KIDS” decided it would be good fun to do the shots menu at Shooters which included flaming shots, cement mixers and tequila……….way to go!!! Scott went missing under his duvet for 24 hrs afterwards. We had a bit of shopping thrown in for good measure…….the handbag shop got most of the profits. We had a couple of days out at the Go-Karting track where the men in particular burned a LOT of rubber and Bronte managed to demolish the track - well done girl, I wonder who you learnt that from? We had a lovely couple of days down at Palolem (our favourite place in Goa for chilling). The night spent in the bog standard huts (well you all said you were on a budget)!! was worth it for the sunset that we viewed and

A Top Gear Presenter in the making photographed a million times. The highlight of the Palolem trip for most, I think, would be the boat trip to Butterfly Island - deserted apart from 2 people; and the sight of the dolphins dancing out of the sea in front of the boats……don’t you just wish you were there now?!
Brian had his retirement party during the two weeks that the family were here, again a great night with lots of food, drink and dancing - we took over the dance floor at East Meets West - a massive open air restaurant, and if I remember correctly Ruby ended up on her bum on the dance floor!!
Christmas Day this year had to be something special and well planned, with so many of us it wasn’t easy but we think everybody enjoyed the day that was spent on Ashvem Beach in the North. The staff at Rockbites really looked after us. We planned a BBQ with fish, chicken, tandoor veg, rice etc and thought it would be quite nice to have a suckling pig as well - you know the type - comes on a silver platter with an apple in it’s mouth…..or so we thought!! What
Merry Christmas Goa Style
Graham, Debbie, Gemma and Kim enjoying the sun we got was a massive beast that came complete with our very own chef who made a fire on the beach, erected a spit and cooked the pig as we all sat around opening our presents, playing cricket and sunning ourselves. The food was great, we also got cake and ice cream and our very own fireworks display to round off the day…….not bad for £15 per head!!! Raj, Lucky, Ali and Ashok (shooters staff) joined us for the day and really enjoyed themselves - although none of them ate the pig because of religious reasons. They made Barry and I perform a Hindu Wedding Ceremony which involved us running around the fire in circles whilst everybody else sang songs…….good fun and all in all a GREAT day.
New Year’s eve was a double celebration because it was also Laura’s 16th Birthday, she had a great time being covered in false snow and silly string by the lads and having her face plastered all over the Big Screen in the bar. We saved the fireworks for midnight along with the bells and everything else that comes with New Year. It was a very late, busy and noisy night, the
Asvem Beach Christmas Day
The Santa Hat seller made a killing with us lot!! lads had too much to drink, the police had a few on us and on the whole we all had a great night
Now the family have all gone back home we can take off the tour guide uniforms for a few days before my Mum & Dad (Jean & Terry) arrive………it’s a hard life but somebody has to do it.
