Oh Dear
Where has your body gone!? Its hilarious me and Paula can't even work out what date the tour ended or how many days it was. I'd like to say "We were in goa from blah date to blah date" but i just can't. Maybe you can work it out for us?
Calangute 3 days
Now that I'm writing this I can't picture Calangute that well in my head unless i look at the photos i guess this is the downside of not writing this! Luckily I have been writing my journal as a reminder! Me, Paula and Rob stayed at pretty much the second place we walked into which was good, Angela's Guesthouse by Coco Banana on Golden Beach Rd. 200 rps a night (about 2. 50 a night) we did pretty good for ourselves. The guys we met upon arrival were daunting but hilarious, giving us loads of advice about Goa and warnings, after we told them where we had been they said "oh well you know all about it then" and stopped talking. Nice room... cold shower (heaven on earth) fan i had to turn up with my teeth, lock we couldnt work out because we were too intoxicated, bathroom that flooded.
Every night talked to an old stoner guy that seemed to know everything about everything... i could have listened to him talk all night. We went out in the evening a lot. Sat on the beach listened to music. Rob showed me a pretty version of the scientist covered by natasha bedingfield brought me way back, listening to it on the way home from acroplois. Brand New as well, obviously. We went to a bar in calangute I think we only wanted a drink or something "hashish ecstacy cocaine lsd" was the reply i still find that hilarious. Whoever said it wasn't easy to get hold of drugs in Goa... that its "fraught with danger"... well. On day 2 we decided to go on a 30km bike ride to Panaji. On Indian roads its not as easy as it sounds. We now completely understand the full purpose of the horn (bell on our bikes) its like a safety helmet, its a way of saying "I'm here!" it was a great way of seeing both towns and all three of us felt really good after doing it. Few narrow misses 😊 wrote in my journal "GOA IS BEAUTIFUL"
Palolem 5
Stalkage
Calangute... Amazement at us burying Paula days (got really, really sick, one day couldn't get out of bed at all)
Read a book called "the history of love" that i might have stole (IT WAS AN INCIDENT!) by accident *looks sheepish* it was a really sad book. Was completely blown away by Palolem got to be honest I had never seen anything like it... so many palm trees! Stayed at Brendans Beach huts the first night it had cockroaches (yum!) in the mosquitto net, explored and swam a lot as the sun set. Took us two hours and 950 rps to get there... rip off. Learnt that we'll take the bus next time we do a distance like that. Had a lot of money worries but i suppose they started when the tour did. Vowed to Paula that we wouldn't worry too much and that we'd go as far as the money took us. Made me feel a lot better 😊 Brendans did really good food! lol i had steak for breakfast... what i hadn't eaten beef in a month! plus 2 fried eggs 2 toast butter jam OJ coffee hash browns for 120 rps... bargain!!! We also had mexican on one of the nights...
Indians are great chefs. Started to develop a serious addiction to cheese nan.
A little girl was titeroping at breakfast the rope was twice her height at least- i thought one day she will fall, i don't want to fund that. I liked palolem better than Calangute and Panaji even more than Anjuna (despite the guy on stage doing a version of wonderwall that i thank god i got on video) wonnddeeeeewaallll... I can't explain why i just loved it from the moment i saw it. Goa was so different to everything else we had seen in india. On the second day we moved from the beach hut to D'mello tourist home it was great they couldn't care less if you lived or died kinda thing everything was so easy there they were really flexible about everything. It was cheaper than the beach hut and we got Air con, cable tv, hot and cold shower, balcony, 5 mins from beach, central, couldn't have asked for more. All for 3 pounds lol.
One of the days we planned to go and get train tickets from canacona to trivandrum but we ended up wandering after a tuktuk quoted us 50
rps it was only 80 to anjuna! We walked until we got to a bridge in a big forest... amazing scenery, mountains, birds, water I was looking at boulders across the lake swearing blind they were crocodiles. Paula humoured me for a while then started singing "CROCOOODIILLEEE DRREEAAMMSSS" at the top of her voice and tap dancing to a whole lotta love. Just shows what you get when you do "wander off the beaten track". In the evening we wandered over the rocks at the far left of palolem beach exploring until we reached Colomb Bay... somewhere we'd wanted to see and found by accident. Ate Shahi Malai Kofta at Boom Shankar restauarant... felt a bit tipsy but was fine once we got in the tuktuk to go back.. the spirit measures here are a bit genorous. Went to Smugglers Inn across the road from where we stayed- guy from near sheffield owns it, really friendly place. Had to stop writing my journal that night as paula wouldnt stop singing umbrella. That song will haunt my dreams.
We went to see dolphins on a little boat! It was ace but still want to find somewhere we can swim with
some for a decent price. They were jumping out of the water. We also walked to a little island (green island?) in the middle of one of the days, well i say walked we had to swim through a little channel with sea on either side, i panicked at one point the current was too strong for my liking 😊 I was shouting at paula to swim. We made it though and it made reaching the top of the island that much more worth it... we slid down to a cliff top i wanted to jump off as i always do when i'm high up, but resisted as a 100ft drop would clearly kill me. We tried to wave at boats coming past but they couldn't see us. We met a ridiculously nice guy called shaun with a tattoo he got for his 4 year old daughter Lily. He was a pothead as well lol. I smoked a hookah pipe for the first time. haha it was flavoured smoke (strawberry) dont panic it doesn't even contain nicotine nevermind anything else.
