One man, One Guitar, One hell of a night!!! Not a lot been happening with us since our last Blog.
Shooters is still busy which is surprising as it’s getting to the end of the season and things are slowing down elsewhere. We’ve started up a Live Music night every Wednesday which has been really popular. The guy that performs is from Perth - Scotland not Oz. He’s really good and gets the crowd going so we’ll probably have him back next season to do a weekly spot.
Health wise I have been feeling under the weather; had a few bouts of sinusitis and pharyngitis which reappears every time I get to the end of the prescription. So, I decided to take myself off to see a healer!!! I heard about him through a friend and apparently he’s really good and really poplar. Not wanting to miss out on the experience Barry decided to come along to see if he could get his aching back sorted.
The healer operates out of a small surgery over the Baga creek, the system works as follows: Get to the surgery at 8am (yes!!! A.M), take a number from the book and wait your turn. Well we arrived at 8.10am and there were already
Hollant Beach
This place isn't even on the map 45 people before us…..wow this guy must be good!!! So we waited and waited along with some very freaky and unusual patients. (I’d say that most of them didn’t need a healer - just less non prescription drugs)!!. Anyway we sat with Helga from Germany and Lars from Amsterdam and Pam the slightly eccentric tie dye clad lady from the good old US of A….I’m sure by now you get the picture!! Anyway our turn came at 11.55am so off I trot into the healing room with an open mind and quite a few nerves. Now I always imagined a healer to be a slightly older man with a long wispy moustache and perhaps a turban, at the very least I thought he should be wearing one of those nappy-like things. In fact our healer wasn’t anything like the stereotype I’ve just described, oh no, he was early forties, dressed in an adidas t-shirt with shoulder length dark curly hair, in fact he looked spookily like every image that I’d ever seen of Jesus Christ…….oh well Jesus was a healer so maybe this guy will be good after all.
I sat comfortably as instructed and explained what the problem was,
Little Vagator Beach
...yes i've slapped on the factor 10 the healer looked on with a sympathetic gaze then proceeded to wave his hands in front of me with eyes closed and taking deep breaths. After 3 mins it was all over, I was given some oils to inhale before my next session which basically involved more of the same. After ten days you WILL be cured he assured me; but to be honest the pain in my head was so bad that after four days I went back to my conventional doctor for more tablets…..so, I guess I’ll never know if I was healed or not. Barry reckons that his back has been great since his encounter so there you go!!!
In between doctors and work we’ve been out and about as normal trying to find new places away from the tourists. We headed down to Bogmalo but found a lovely beach along the way which was accessed by driving through beautiful lush paddy fields. The beach was called “Hollant” and isn’t even on the maps. Spent a lovely day at little vagator a 15 min drive from home and managed to catch sunset.
We have also had a couple of Hindu festivals here, Holi the festival of colour
Little Vagator Beach
No it's not Barry, he's almost 40 now this is far too energetic!! and Shigmo which celebrates the start of spring. Both noisy and colourful involving lots of fireworks.
The England cricket team are in India at the moment and will be playing in Goa on the 3rd April, Barry has got a golden ticket so is off on a jolly with the boys - keep an eye on the crowd you might just spot him. No girlies allowed so I'll probably be watching it in the bar with the Raj, Lucky and Acasio.
We are currently busy getting the books up to date to hand over to the accountant which of course will result in a whopping tax bill…..you see it’s not all sun and palm trees!!
Only three and a half weeks left of the season so we are looking forward to our Hong Kong trip and especially the SHOPPING.
