This is the HSBC building which cost $1 billion to build. You can walk right underneath the building as it sits up on four pillars which act like stilts.
Much like Malaysia and Singapore earlier in our trip we had not planned to go to Hong Kong. However once we got to the top of Vietnam we decided to give Laos a miss because i was over quite relaxing places BORING, that and the fact that we hope to work in Hong Kong in a few years time so it was a bit of a trial run. We caught an overnight sleeper bus which had beds in them from the nanning near the vietnam/china border through mainland china onto Hong Kong (China has by far and away the highest standard of transport we have come across). We soon realised as we boarded the bus that Hinda had left her visa card in the atm, by which time it was too late to do anything. So what do you do when o/s in distress, borrow a phone of the only tourist on the bus who luckily enough was an expat and had a phone

After wandering around Wan Chai on Hong Kong Island for a while we soon realised that budget accommodation doesn't really exist there so we jumped on a train over to kowloon in search of the ever

famous Chungking Mansion. Well it lived up to its reputation as you can see from the photo below!! It was quite good staying in Kowloon as there is heaps to see and do and there are ALWAYS shops open tempting you to succumb to temptation (though i think i found this a little harder than Matt did!)

The shopping in HK is just amazing well thats was what hinda thought almost every shop was a designer store, Louis Vuitton was so busy it looked like a supermarket and that was just a normal day for these people!!! Too much money in this place along with mcdonalds quite strange apparently there are 200 stores in hong kong and when you consider Hong Kong has the highest population density in the world but only 7 million people you can gather that the place is not that big, but around every corner you turn there is a mcdonalds!!!

We spent the next few days discovering as much as we could, doing the longest escalator trip in the world, climbing up to the Victoria Peak to check out the view and of course witnessing the world's biggest symphony of lights!

had planned the trip perfectly, so of course we were just in time to go to the races at Happy Valley racecourse, which is incredibly positioned right in the middle of the city!we weren't overly successful but came out even which was an effort in itself considering the terrible form of nearly all the horses that were racing.

We left Hong Kong to go to Macau another which like Hong Kong is owned by China but has its own governemnt. The entire country revolves around casinos everywhere you look there is one every hotel has one. In fact there are some many that the annual turnover in Macau casinos is hgiher than that of Las Vegas, the reason being that not many asian countries allow casinos so they get many visitors from mainland china and surrounding countires who come on gambling holidays.

There should be a video clip at the start of the text which looks like a roll of film with hong kong as the title it shows sound and light show it is quite impressive seeing that it is all syncronised to music and the buildings are all 30-40 stories tall

the quality is a

This is where we stayed for 5 nights, no natural light to speak of and definantly no fresh air.
