Hi guys,
just got back last night from an exhausting trip. You should see our Z. He is like the energizer bunny.....he keeps going...and going....and going!!!
Anyways, we took the morning flight out of Manila last 22nd Nov via Cebu Pacific. I thought we had a bargain with our tickets, until the check-in counter asked us to pay our travel tax of about 32 USD (phoowey!!) each. It was a disaster as we already spent 120++ USD even prior to us leaving the country.
Prior to touching down HK, my eldest THEA, showed signs of cough and colds and was having a terrible headache. Good thing we've managed to clear immigration, even if the immigration officer is having second looks at my daughter(whew!!).
At the arrival hall, we've met with our agent who took us to our hotel (NEWTON HOTEL KOWLOON). Upon stepping out of the airport, the cold chilly wind hit us right in the face and we were awaken to the thought that we are no longer in Sunny Philippines. One who was hit hard was my wife who was in shorts and flipflops (hahahaha!!) as if she was on her way to Boracay....
Upon reaching the hotel, we were immediately taken to our room which was small, but cozy, and with a lovely view. A plus factor for me as this was the first time that I got a room with a view. In the past, the only view from our hotel window was the ac and some alley ways...
First stop for us was the Buddha. We took the MTR to Tung Chung where we took the cable car. It was a thing not to be missed when in HK. It was a a 2 hour travel time (30 minutes travel time, 1hour 30 minutes waiting in line...). Upon reaching Ngong Ping, we immediately rushed to see the Buddha as the line for the cable car is getting longer by the minute...We just took some photos then lined up for the cable car going down. While in line, Thea suddenly shook, then chilled and showed signs of fatigue. I then removed my jacket to wrap her with and gave her a hug which is quite dificult as she has grown up now. As for her brother....Z keeps on running...and running....and running and dancing which amuses everyone on que and the waiting
time is less painful.
2nd Day, we went to Disneyland where we took tons of pictures. Still lots of queuing for a picture, and it was the most I paid for a picture (about 1000 HKD). Overall, the kids had a great time. While me and my wife were exhausted chasing them....
2nd half of day 2 was with our Aunt and Uncle who lives in a posh appartment near the airport. It has "the works!" 3 big rooms, a big living room, and a veranda which has the HKIA as it s backdrop.
Day 3 was a stroll for everyone. We rode the star ferry and the tram up the Victoria's Peak. In the evening was shopping for "pasalubongs" and small stuff at Mong Kok. Saw lots of pretty girls there, and Z was as usual, staring at ladies and making his charm do the work....
Day 4 was also about strolling and going back to the places where we have been in the past. In short, we took Z to the places where we took his big sister when she was still of his age. Even managed to dropped by Guandong Hotel in Prat
ave where we stayed on our first trip to HK with Thea 7 years ago.
Overall, the trip was fun. Seeing the kids happy makes me more happier. They are our happiness...Downside is that it is pretty difficult to travel with an infant. Especially if you will be taking public transport. Thank God for the umbrella type stroller we bought last minute before our departure...Lastly, the view of the Newton Hotel Kowloon is one of the best. An open field with a view of the mountains. Sadly, they do not have heaters which is very inconvenient for us. And this causes the colds of the kids to worsen everyday. We ended up covering them with 3 layers of blanket at night on top of their sweaters and jammies. As for me...well I'm cool!! Got a cold and cough as well but I'm cool. Can't wait to be back.....Might try some more adventure.....Macau is a target. Hope they are ready for Z....
