Hong Kong Skyline
Love blossoms in the Far East Welcome to the place where East meets West! Hong Kong is a fantastic eclectic mix of different styles and cultures which is reflected in their way of life as well as their clothes and food!
We were very lucky here as we turned up late without booking anywhere to stay and just decided to turn up at the first hostel we had found on the internet. It turned out to be a great location, cheap and clean!
The first day was spent looking for a replacement camera for the one we lost. We searched high and low for something Mel was happy with and when we actually found it she changed her mind. Finally we did find a camera at a good price so we can now download pictures more easily...woopeee!
We did loads of sightseeing. We took the ferry from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island where we took the tram up Victoria peak which was fun and headed down to Stanley market for a browse around. The sightseeing highlight however was the giant Bhudda on Lantau Island...one of the largest sitting Bhuddas in the world and it is truly awesome. The trip back from the Bhudda was also
Giant Bhudda
Peace and eternal enlightenment memorable in its own right as a lorry managed to overturn on our bus route and we had to wait 3 hours while the Police, Firebrigade and all the kings men tried to fix humpty dumpty (obviously no one was hurt otherwise I wouldn't have written that).
The shopping was also incredible and Mel even thinks that it is better in Hong Kong than London so it looks like we might be coming back for a weekend shopping trip at some point!
After a few days in HongKong we are heading off to Japan as we managed to book 5 days in Kyoto and Tokyo so Mel will finally get to eat in the capital of Sushi!
