Hi fellow bloggers,
I know, its been 1 whole year since my last post so I got to make up.
Anyways, I was again back in HK with my family last November for our anual HK trip. It was pretty cold than the usual, but still was a blast.
DAY 1: We arrive HK airport after a 2 hr flight from Manila, and was fetched by my Aunt (who was waiting for about 3 hours as our flight was delayed, damn!!) as we are not travelling on a package tour this time (to minimize our expense, and maximize our time....Translation: to tolerate our lazyness...). After some greetings, we proceed to the terminus to take the 629 bus to their area in Lai Chi Kok called the Banyan Garden. Talk about posh condominium, this has everything...from a minipark, to an olympic size pool. The 'condotel' also houses theri own computer shop (which by the way was free!!), a Karaoke parlor, a Sauna, and kids playground. They even have their own 7-11 on that place. After some more catching up story and 4 San Miguel, we doze off.
DAY 2: We woke up early only to remain there until
3 in the afternoon. Problem is that there is about 12 of us about to take our bath rituals, and there was only one bathroom. Anyways, after our delicious lunch from our host (my Aunt) we head to our hostel at Tak Hing st. in Jordan, very near to Imperial Hotel. I was a little better that Chunking Mansion, but the language barrier was another story. Explainign to a lady who doesn't speak english at all was one big challenge to me. Funny thing is that when I told her that she is 'maganda' (means pretty), she suddenly undestands what I am motioning. To cut the story short, we were like mute fellows arguing...."aa..a.a..a..a.....a.a.a...a.". It was hilarious though, especially when it was my father who needs to clear some of his issues ( mind you, my dad has a pair of big round eyes), the one on the desk seem so afraid...handing us bed linens, comforters left and right. We even got a free bed because of that. After dumping our stuff, we head out for a Hong Kong breeze walk along Nathan Rd. from Jordan, we walk all the way to Chunking Mansion to have our good 'ol $
changed (we were told that this is the area where dollar rates are quite high that the average). We headed to a Hankow road for some Horse-race betting, a little window shopping, and some traditional Congee (which was quite good!!...and filing!!). After which, we headed to Victoria Harbour for some Symphony of Lights show.
DAY 3: After a very disturbing night (there was a 24 hr disco one floor above our room!), we all decided to take a bath and head our heavy heads to Victoria's Peak. Even if I was in this place year after year, it still amazes me everytime!. The high buildings, the people, and the dining area that seems to pop up like mushrooms year after year. Then we were off to Mong Kok for some shopping and dining as well. Beleive it or not, this is the first time I've been to that place, and it was shocking for me, but great!! I think this is the place where all fashionistas are....fashionable clothes are also a bargain at this place...Alfter a cold shower we doze off....
DAY 4: We were up late (again!) and nearly miss the bus to OCEAN PARK. When we
reached the park, we were delighted to know that there were only a handful of people around. Which means, no waiting in line for us (Yes!!). First we try the flying (or is it hot air) balloon where you can see most of Aberdeen. We laughingly told the operator that if the line was cut, pls pick us up in MACAU....Ha(He didn;t get the joke, how surprising that was!!). We then headed to the Cablecar where we were split into two groups. Even if this is the second time I rode it, it still has that tinggling feeling that I will faaaaalllll down that steep cliff, good thing I didn't coz I won't be able to write this down, right?! Overall, it was all great fun, especially the ABYSS DROP, where it scared the living daylights out of me........and made me ask for more!!! Yet guys, its a must try in OCEAN PARK...just remember to leave your mobile in the basket in front of you, or else it will end up as......what happened to mine..huhuhuhuhu..
DAY 5: This was basically a rest day for all of us......rest translate to more shopping. We went ot CITY GATE where there are
great buys at discounted prices. It was great! THey even have this podium where you can find all the dishes you can find in Asia. From Chinese to Japanese to Korean etc...... After 4 hours on that mall, we headed to CENTRAL for some fun in the TRAM. When we got there, man it was freezing cold! Actually, the air was chilling which makes it freezing. My wife was shievering all through out the trip in the tram. But, it was great, and cheap. Just two HKD for a trip! We were so into riding the tram, until we realize that it was the last trip for that day......and we are deep into HK island. So, with limited info on the area, we had no choice but to take the cab back to our joint. Talk about saving up for bigger expense. Good thing we saw a bus heading to TST! We jumped right in and ditched our cabbie (Bad tourist) and alighted near our hostel.
DAY 6: This day is entirely dedicated to Mickey Mouse and the Gang. My baby was up very early, and was so excited. Excited that she knocked off my camera, good thing
it didn't borke!. After 45 mins, we were on the train, joining the HK rush hour, trying to reach sunny bay. After taking the exclusive disney train, we arrive Disneyland, but to our surprise, there was no one around?? when we got a chance to talk to a park attendant, we were told that park opens at 10, and it was 845?? SOmebody forgot to check the clock back there, no wonder it was still dark! To liven our spirits, we visited the HOLLYWOOD HOTEL for some authentic DISNEY BREAKFAST. We had buffet breakfast, and nearly stuffed our brains out. We were so full that we forgot the time. We got to the park half past 11 (bad timing), but still found most of the lines to the characters manageable. There is not that much of people inside the park, so most of the characters are all to ours, think the picture speaks for itself. We stayed and walked all day, until we called it quits since we cannot take another step. But not until we have every character's photograph...Hahaha. Event if its the secong time, it was still a blast.
Can't wait to be back soon.............
