Hong Kong
Andy really hoped the sign didn't translate as 'Killer Bears ahead' Hong Kong is Yang to Delhi's Ying. Where we had become accustomed to dirt, noise and cow shit we now had disinfectant, shine and shopping mall after shopping mall.
Hong Kong feels like it was built yesterday. Everything sparkles, with skyscrapers forming an impressive skyline, escalators taking you from one mall to another and restaurants and bars at every turn. This was the perfect antidote to India. We enjoyed our hot power shower, flat screen TV and crisp white duvet set.
However it has its own identity and Kowloon we visited the numerous markets (jade, flower and bird) sampled dim sums and enjoyed a night out at the fabulous urban Happy Valley racecourse on Kong Hong Island. The shopping rivals New York and London however after failure to back any winners at the races and space already limited in our backpacks we had to make do with a bracelet and a cap!
We recharged our batteries, ate a great meal at the Peak which overlooks Hong Kong (thanks Laura, Suzanne and Sarah for this and all your other Hong Kong suggestions) and had our first bottle of wine in a month, a Pinot Noir which went down very

Until now we had forgotton it was December but with Christmas lights everywhere and one night being seranaded by the local W.I choir with carols it felt nicely familar and homely.
We are now in good shape for Bangkok and our S.East Asia adventure.
This technology crazy city also gave us the opportunity to upload our photos so if you look back over our previous blogs you can now see our pictures!
