Georgian wine is aged in large clay amphorae known as qvevri buried in the earth. They've been making wine in Georgia for over 8,000 years and wine may well have been invented here.

We visited half a dozen wineries one afternoon and had lunch at this one. As with vineyards around the world, this one was in a beautiful part of the country, had amazing food and great wine

Tbilisi to Yerevan, Armenia we stopped for lunch at a roadside cafe. I think I got sick here because that night in Yerevan I became violently sick. On the sign: top is Armenian script, then English and then Russian

I likely got sick eating the raw veggies on the left - but they were soooo good. The green bottle holds a local drink make from tarragon - interesting(?)

The little chapel dates to 1264. A basilica was built over the chapel in 1693. The basilica was demolished under Soviet rule and they round the 13th century chapel, which was preserved. After Soviet rule ended, the big church around the chapel was built.
