We rolled up the green valley out of Akhaltsikhe and gently back into the steppe. As we climbed, we began to get the sense that we were already in Armenia. The hatred between these two countries is the stuff of legend with both sides occupying territory across borders that is not internationally recognized. Either way, Azerbaijan charges exhorbidant vise fees, and troubles travelers who have been to Armenia; a country that opens it's borders to foreigners and charges a few dollars for a visa. Essentially, our sentiments are with the Armenians even though Azerbaijanies themselves are certainly quite hospitable.
