After another mammoth border stop we trundled out of the fairy lit station listening to some classical waltz being piped over the station. Not very chinese ...but as I was soon to experience better any day than the high pitched shrieks of chinese opera.

So had the last great night's sleep but the first of many a night on night-trains in China. Two catalans in our compartment who didnt seem to have any interest in scoffing some pot noodle for dinner (too used to the wonderful cocina espanola I guess!) We are not missing Irish cocaireacht but are not getting attached to pot noodle either.

It is a fabuous way to enter China because the trans-mongolian train actually passes thru the Great Wall a few times. One of the stations stops right underneath so there was a scramble for fotos. Could see a scramble of tourists on the wall also....
