Jumping at the lotus garden
So much fun with Ally and Missy Today was so much fun! We woke up early and drove out to a semi rural area to see these plantations where people grow flowers and other types of vegetation with the help of the government. The government is trying to get people to leave the urban cities and start living in rural areas and to do this, they are subsidizing a bunch of programs for the people. I don’t feel like going into detail about it.
At one of the gardens we went to, we came across this music festival type of event and we were all watching from outside a window. The next thing we knew, all of us were all on stage and some people were dancing with us and they were playing music and taking pictures! They then had us sing for them and for about a half hour we were the center of attention dancing and singing on stage! It was so random but so much fun. None of us had any idea what was going on or what anyone was saying. Later on we found out that it was the opening ceremony for the garden!!! It was all old people…was crashed an old

We're getting yelled at by that woman on the right!! people’s party! AWESOME!
Anyways, it was really nice walking through the lotuses and gardens. We ended at a tea house where we sat drinking tea over looking the lake while listening to a lecture about the economic benefits of the people leaving the city to work on these plantations.
While we were drinking tea, these two guys came over to offer ear cleanings! Mike and Phil decided to give it a shot. Now this was no ordinary ear cleaning that I’ve ever seen in my life. They had these metal rods and little picks! The people literally picked all the goop out of their ears during the lecture and while I was sitting there drinking my tea. More then once I almost threw up in my mouth!
After ear goop, tea and the lecture I didn’t want to leave but had no choice. Depressed that we had to leave (really enjoyed the breeze over the water and my tea) I put on my iPod and started rocking out. Sean, who was sitting next to me, got dragged into my rocking out period and I introduced Sean to Sister Hazel, one of my favorite bands, on my iPod.
Good times! And if that wasn’t enough…I don’t know how this happened but me and Jess, who used to live in Connecticut, got onto the topic of Stew Leonard’s! If you don’t know what Stew Leonard’s is you are missing out; it is the playground of all supermarkets. This conversation ended with every one on our bus excited to visit a Stew Leonard’s and me deciding that I wanted to open one up in the Phoenix area.
We got back and I decided to take a nap since I’m still pretty sick with a cold; as does pretty much everyone on the trip. Everyone went to meet with some of the students of the local university at 4pm and Ally tired to wake me up by banging on my door and ringing the door bell but I was passed out cold so I missed that. My roommate then came in and woke me up around 6:30 and me and the other people who stayed at the hotel met up with the rest of the group at a hot-pot with a Chinese Opera show.
The dinner show was so awesome even though I didn’t understand the storyline. The dancing
Crashing Garden Party
We were the youngest ones there! and costumes were enough to keep me occupied as well as engaging myself with the hot-pot. The hot-pot is kinda like fond-du but you put all these foods in the pot and then pick it out later when it is ready. This has been one of my favorite meals yet.
When I got back I decided to stay in and get some school work done since I am a little behind but for some reason, AIM appeared more attractive so I started talking to people. I got my family to call me too! It was great to talk to my mom, dad and little brother; I haven’t seen or talked to them in forever. I can’t wait to come home this summer and see them along with my aunt and uncles…it’s been such a long time.
Tomorrow we fly out again to another destination so I guess I best get packing!
