Lijiang has been the base of our operations in northern yunnan. Lijiang has a maze of cobbled streets, rickety old wooden buildings and gushing canals. The place to go in Lijiang is the old town. Outside of the old town Lijiang is really just another developing chinese city with almost nothing to do. The city is up in the mountains and you can catch great sights of Yulong Snow mountain almost any time of the day. Hostels in the old town are cheap and are usually inside of old naxi homes. very cool. food is a bit expensive here though...
