On our return to Lhasa, we bussied ourselves with preparations for our next proposed trek: Gamden to Samye Monasteries. We opted to do this one by organised tour through an agency, with guide, cook and a party of Yaks to carry our gear.

We had a couple of days in Lhasa before our trek, much of this time was spent combing the markets for souvenirs and curiosities. We also discovered a few interesting cafe's and eateries... notably 'peace world' run by a Tibetan and his wife, who'd learnt English in India. Another favourite was 'Nomad cafe' a veggie place with a nice atmosphere.

One afternoon in the Barkhor, I decided to buy one of the 'head dresses' that the men from the Kham region wear. The woman at the market stall kindly put it on for me, much to the amusement of locals and entertainment of tourists! After about 3 minutes of walking around the Barkhor I felt the need to take it off... the attention was just too extreme for me to handle!
