Today we visited the most beautiful place. I'd read that chengdu had a few blossom and peony festivals at this time of year but I was failing in getting my husband to take us as all the Chinese were saying all the flowers are already dead (they were wrong!) Luckily Bill's cousin offered us a lift to emeishan and to drop us off at the flower festival in Xinjin on route. This seemed the best available option! It was great to wave goodbye to our prison cell esque room at flip flop and chengdu. However, it took us a small lifetime to escape! Chengdu city traffic is out of control. Completely chock a block!
Our first stop was a countryside park in Xinjin. Some nice yellow flower fields but nothing else. Then we drove to the main flower festival. A wonderful surprise! I was very excited by the eye catching splashes of deep pink chrysanthemum and that was just the car park! Looking up, we could see a sea offlowers trailing up the hill, a mixture of pink, purple, white chrysanthemum and blossom trees. We followed the crowds up the steps. Isaac is very aware that he is a 'guai guai!' He turned many heads and had his nappy changed to an audience of around 50 and their cameras! His bum may well ready be on google images! Isaac lapped it all up and treated them all to his 'I'm so happy having my clothes taken off' giggles! Unfortunately we had to leave and continue to emeishan. I would've loved to have stayed much longer 😊
Two nappy stops later, we arrived in emeishan. Bill has shares in a hostel here so wanted to have a look. He made himself known to the local staff. At least we're getting to stay for free!
