piecelamies shorit ljoti agri - plks.06.00, lai dotos uz auto staciju. Un atklajam, ka visi kalni apsnigushi. Auksts, protams, ljoti. Visu celju no Shahavas lidz Langmusi sniga - apkartne ljoti pasakaina.
Ljoti ceru, ka laika apstaklji pasiltinasies, jo shis aukstums man parak daudz nesimpatize. Es brinos, ka cilveki, kas dzivo shados laika apstakljos (tagad vinjiem skaitas vasara!!!), buve tik negruntigas majas. Isteniba, rodas iespaids, ka ekas ir celtas diezgan pavirshi - sjkjirbas visur, planas sienas vietam.... tiesham jocigi....
Edusi ar dakshu un nazi es neesmu jau vairak ka nedelju - bez problemam!!😊)
ok, tas shoreiz viss!!!!

We started the day with a 6am start, waking up at our super budget option of the Labrang Monastery guesthouse. There was snow on the mountains, a a 2km walk to the bus station awaited us. The bus journey was 4 hour filled with 3 kung-fu movies(one with Jackie Chan) and most notably, a leaky ceiling- Lelde spent the journey in full waterproofs!
We've found what seems to be a reasonable guesthouse, as yet the water is not running, so our long over due shower is being further delayed, but fingers crossed!
It was cold today- the sweltering het of Beijing and X'ian are now distant memories. Wewalked around one nice monastery- a beautiful setting amongst alpine peaks, and looked around town. We're working from the last edition of
Lonely Planet, now 2 years old, and this route, described, I think, as growing in popularity is now quite well trodden, nontheless, it's a priceless experience of Tibetan culture. The Tibetans are more striking than the Han Chinese, perhaps because od their traditional dress and jewellery. We've still yet to get a good picture of Tibetans- having tried asking, we're now experimenting with other techniques- pretending to photograph the landscape nearby, taking pics of ourselves when tey're in the background etc. Any good advice would be apprecited😊
We met a Swiss couple a couple of nights ago, and the lady gave us some information on projects, volunteering and teaching in Yunnan province, so we'll check this out, and may extend our stay in China. The other thing is that we both agree that Mongolia is worth a return visit.

The second day in Langmusi, in my opinion the most touristy place I have seen so far in China! Still cold......... Even in our luxury room, and the visit to the shower last night was rather exciting, if we can call it like that - I was lucky to get my hair washed as after I soaped my body there
was no more hot water coming out, not that there was plenty of it before, so I had to wash off all the soap using the sink (In China, there is often no seperate cubicle for shower there is just a shower head on the wall in the bathroom along with the toilet and sink) And of course the temperature in the bathroom seemed to be close to 0 degrees. It was very clever of me to use the bathroom first as Steven had no more hot water left at all! Oh, he was happy!!! 😊)
I haven't seen such a concentration of monks as in the last few days ever in my life - they are everywhere. I hope - the more you see them the better karma you get - I'm rather fascinated by this concept and have no doubt that that's the way it goes! 😊
We haven't done too much today - walked around the village, ate, tryed to make some pictures of Tibetian bikers (many of them drive motorbikes) in their traditonal costums, without them suspecting it, but it didn't quite work....
Dinner time is rather close and then we'll have to
Well sort
Tibetan ladies.
Well sort of - this in on tactic to photograph them, as the rejections mount. of - this in on tactic to photograph them, as the rejections mount.
pack and have early night as we taking a bus to another place at 7.00am tomorrow.
ATTENTION to all those I haven't heard from ages, - aren't you ashamed to keep silent and not even write a little tiny email to me so I would know how you are doing, what's new etc., when I'm updating my daily happening almost every day???????!!!!!!!! Ahh???? So, My dear friends - change your ways and first thing today, reserve an extra hour or two in your schedule, to type a nice, long, detailed email to me!!!! I will be all sunshine!!!! 😊
Rau, ko mes atklajam viena no templjiem - lielu daudzumu beigtu dzivnieku, kas karajas pie griestiem.
Lots of dead animal hanging of the sealing in one of the monastries.

Note to Lelde from Dr. Jan
Lelde, If your ankle is still painful here is some advice that may help. First, ignore Steven. Second, Keep the ankle raised as much as possible. Raising the ankle will reduce swelling and pain. Third, Find a sturdy walking stick and use it. Put your weight on the walking stick and not on the leg with the painful ankle and in a few days the ankle will start to heal. Love, Jan
