Edit Blog Post

Will we ever see blue sky again? I think not. The fog seems to have followed us from Xi'an, or maybe it just covers the whole country. But Chengdu seems a lot less grim than Xi'an, probably because it has a lot more open spaces, trees, little parks, etc. We got the plane here rather than the train (55 minutes as opposed to 24 hours, for the same price - tough decision to make!) and arrived at our hostel at 2ish, then went for a wander. The problem is that there is no subway, so we're probably going to be doing a lot of walking over the next few days, and probably also a lot of getting lost on buses. But it's an interesting city to explore. Around our hostel is a Tibetan area, and there are monks literally everywhere! At first, I was really excited about it - "Look Mark, a monk! Look, there's a monk in a restaurant! Look, there's one doing his grocery shopping!" - but eventually the novelty wore off, even for me!

Can't upload pictures on this computer (hopefully will be able to on another day), and we will hopefully have something more interesting to write about tomorrow! For now though, we're going to see what the hostel has to offer for our tea!
