Sheshan
Ty, Jessie, and Cai pose before we explore the pagoda, hills, observatory, and basilica in the park Wow, if you’re reading this, then you’ve officially found my first blog attempt since arriving in China on November 1! Unfortunately, we are still unable to download photos as we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our sea crate containing, among other things, the USB cord to make the computer connection. I can tell you that after living here 3 weeks, it still doesn’t quite feel like home. It is a new adventure everyday. For example, yesterday there was the visit to the immigration office, which had no observable door. After pushing around on a rock wall for awhile, I found a spot which opened into a busy office. Today I was pleasantly surprised to find our local Carrefore store (like Meijers) was festively decorated for Christmas. And finally I can walk through the “meat” department without feeling my stomach turn from all the smells. I think the “meat” department is the most interesting place to venture through as it is filled with fresh things like meats, unusual sausages hanging, swimming and freshly cut fish with the mouth still popping open, shrimp (Bubba would be impressed as there is fresh shrimp, dried shrimp, boiled shrimp…… ), live eel, turtle, bull frogs,
Buddah
Cai tells me it's only allowed to take photos outside of the little building housing the Buddah. I'm now standing just outside the door. and all sorts of innards and stuff I know nothing of. Matt, kids, and I are all doing fine and we are being treated exceptionally well. No worries mate!
