Today has been a travel day so no photos to publish specific to today - just thought I would post a couple of general photos for interest.

We left our Guilin hotel at 9.15, an hours drive to the airport (we had to drive a fair way out of town to get away from all the mountains) Our flight was on time and we arrived at Pudong airport in Shanghai just after lunch. Then it was an interesting 2.5 hour drive to Suzhou, through the outskirts of Shanghai - will talk more about Shanghai tomorrow as we go back there after a one night stay here. After checking in we had time for relaxing bath and then it was off to dinner and a walk around the streets of Suzhou - the city has a lot of canals so we explored the local shopping mall and then walked on to the nearby canal which appears to be very old and has lot of interesting shops and small alley ways. It is only 8.30 but we are back at the hotel - the Chinese night life while interesting to watch isn't our cup of tea - KTV (Karaoke Television) is not

According to our National Guide, the national bird of China is the Orange Crane. This is Greg's contribution to the travel blog (apart from being the major photographer of course!!)
something that you will ever get Greg doing (or me for that matter)!! We have a big day of sight seeing tomorrow so am going to get a relatively early night.

Temperature wise, it has finally cooled down a little - only 15 today. We are going to go on a canal cruise tomorrow so no doubt will have to rug up. Thank goodness we did Beijing at the beginning of the tour - it is getting down to minus figures there now - can't imagine climbing in the extreme cold.

More on the Garden city of Suzhou tomorrow.

Greg is really enjoying the different signs - this is just one example of some of the very literal translations to English.
