many people spend half their lives in these internet clubs, getting addicted to computer games. People have even been known to die in them because they stay down there for days at a time, not drinking or eating.

Soup
Hi Peter I loved the soup photo - was it just a bad translation or what? Highly amusing! Glad to hear from Dad that you're enjoying teaching at the kids' winter camp - or maybe you're back in Hainan by now. You may or may not have heard Erlend and Kate had a boy, Finley Niall - quite an easy birth (to make up for Sam's). I'm going down on Thursday to look after Sam while E and K take Finley to have a hip scan - it looks as though he's O.K. though. Changing times at the magazine I write for: the editor' job is going, so goodness knows what that means for the future of the mag. Just keeping my fingers crossed! With love Auntie Julie

Happy Birthday to Erlend if you happen to get this on the right day! (I just know that Mum and Dad are visiting Erlend today, not sure which day exactly his birthday is). Thank you for the comment, the soup thing was just a hilarious translation in a menu, yes. There are so many funny mistranslations like that all over the place, because there's such a lack of people who can write good English. Sometimes they even go to the effort of making giant names of buildings out of metal and putting them up on the roof before checking whether it makes sense. It keeps you smiling when you're walking around, so I hope they don't learn too fast. But it also makes me wonder just how bizarre my Chinese could be sounding without me realising. I hope the job works out fine, and keep holding your breath for that card, which should actually be in ship or something by now! Pete
