Sleeper Train
Will indulging in pot noodles at 8am. Guilin, Yangshou
After a 24 hour train journey, which was not as bad as it could have been (A-OK according to Will) Quote from Tory -
If I got kidnapped no one would even care

Seriously, we would recommend the soft sleepers, pot noodles and boiled eggs and all!
Guilin, non eventful... so we took a bamboo raft down the Li River to Yangshou (after a car ride that left Tory green). The scenery was beautiful even with some low hanging clouds around the lime stone mountains. Our guide was helpful to point out different rock formations...in Chinese. If you see any in the photos let us know, we believe one is a Monkey.
Yangshou was worth the journey. A vibrant backpacker/tourist town with lots of bars and restaurants. We mixed relaxation with the odd cultural experience. We spent a morning doing Tai Chi, where we both tested the inner peace of our instructer! One miserable day we joined a cooking class that began at the local market - very colourful and vibrant, although, we gave the dog meat stall a miss. We are now successful chefs for two Chinese starters and three main courses with added garlic and oyster sauce.
We spent one night at the Giggling Tree a converted farm house outside of the main town. In the afternoon we went for a bike ride that left Tory's backside sore for the rest of our time in China! We got lost, had a close encounter with a water buffalo and found a fantastic location to have a riverside beer.
Guilty pleasure: homemade chocolate biscuits.
