Road to Beijing Day 6!

Hong Kong has been and gone, Guilin has gone and been! 6 days into the trip and after some belt busting trouser troubling stretchy pant needing fun, eating and drinking with the Dows in HK (see I say HK now I am tremendously cosmo( no-one else says cosmo unfortunately which makes me an idiot!!) we have finally got to the mainland and started some sightseeing. No more Giant Jelly shots form Al's place thankyou very much Gavin, birthday or not 11 is my limit on Jelly shots!! So far in China it seems that we are sight to be seen as we are stared at everywhere we go as Giant, pasty, coathanger still in our clothes freaks of nature. Nadia biggest goal for this trip is to see someone walk into a lampost or tree whilst staring at us. we can but dream.

Guilin is a a little hamlet in Chinese terms just 300,000 people but the scenery around is probably the most beautiful I have ever seen anywhere in the world. It is stunning. 30,000 'mountains' in the region and views upon views of gorgeous terraced rice fields. we climbed one such mountain and felt a true sense of achievement until we were passed near the top bya 4foot5 50 year old local carrying a basket with luggage for the hotel on her back which she did all day every day for a couple of quid a round trip!!! they are most definately 'wiry'.

Off down the Li River to Yangshou today supposed to be even more beautiful so cant wait.

Bring on the games The Brits are coming!!
