Day 3 - first we decided to go and find some socks and get a coffee so we just walked in a direct we havent been. after walking awhile we found a covered market and got 5 pairs of socks for 5 yuan. (20 cents each nz)
i think its cheaper to just buy new socks rather than wash them.
then we found a shop that sell novelty size giant paper money and paper shirts and hats (I will certainly return) I bought a huge bag of candles for 30 cents nz. afterthat we found a small western coffee shop that was expensive but really good coffee, even had real milk. the lady was very excited to practice her english on us which everybody seems to do.
then we decided to go somewhere new so caught the metro to panyu square, the closest stop to our house. it was very open but very smogy so we didn't stay long.
later after we finish class we are going to try and find a western part of the city someone has told us about but i'm not too hopeful
