One of my favourite activities whenever I arrive anywhere new, is to wander (often aimlessly) through back streets and up trails to get a feel for the "real life" experiences of the locals. Another favourite meeting place was outside Xiao Mei and Gu Ma Zu's shoe shop. As soon as we arrived, kids would appear out of nowhere!

This little one finally plucked up the courage to tap on my leg. He wanted a photo with me too! He then decided to "paint" my nails bright blue- with his sister's bottle of eye make-up!
