Hi from Beijing. Have just arrived after 23.5 hrs in the train from Hong Kong. Hong Kong was fantastic. We stayed in the Hyatt Regency Sha Tin in absolute luxuruy thanks to James and his connections with the Hong Kong Jockey Club. It worked out at Aus $65 a night including breakfast. I think it is a training hotel. We visited the Hong Kong jockey club at Shan Tin and had a conducted tour with James' son Bronte who is a vet there. He lives on a boat out on the harbor and he took us ot there for lunch with the family - a great day out.
James sent me on a day trip to Macau. It took an hour and a quarter to clear passport control as it was a holiday. The Casinos are unbelieveable. I went to the Venetian Casino which is just like Venice complete with canals, St Mark's sq etc. I hope I can upload the photos.
The train trip from Hong Kong to Beijing beats description, the rice paddocks, new cities, millions of people. Have just got in from visiting Tiannamen sq.
