Calligraphy(书法), the Summer Palace (颐和园)

We have calligraphy and kong fu classes every week! Also we have Friday afternoons off to go explore the city... this week I went to the Summer Palace (aka Yi He Yuan aka 颐和园).

From right to left, he wrote out Beijing Language and Culture University 北京语言大学 and from top to bottom he explained how the characters developed into what they are today. Then we had kong fu class where we learned how to hurt people if they attack us in bars!

A few people were flying kites. This one looked like a squid!

It is supposed to look like a jade belt. Signs around the park said that basically all the beautiful historical bridges and pavilions were destroyed by the Eight-Nation Alliance and then rebuilt in the 90's.
