April 21st 2007 Had a very lond day yesterday and i'm still a bit jet lagged. Got up about 10am and finally went and saw Tianamen Square. It is massive with thousands of people walking around. You see groups of chinese and japenese tourists with red or yellow caps on and lots of western tourists following the tour guide with the large flag.
Most of the young people around are trying to talk to the forigners to pratice their english. If another person says that i am English i will go mental. Most want to go for a tea or coffee so they can talk more, at your expense of course. The pesky gift sellers get as close to the square as the can without getting arrested.
I started at the south and walked north towards the forbidden city. The chairman Mao museum is closed till next year and the national histiory museum till 2010.
The square was very impressive, but i didnt get any sense of history that i was expecting.
