Today being a rest from temples we took the opportunity to explore Siem Reap outside of Pub Street. The river at SR is somewhat underwhelming, brown and fairly stagnant but of course this didn’t stop the local kids from jumping in. There are quite a few up market shops which we didn’t see last time, but I suppose that shouldn’t be a surprise given the population growth as well as the increasing number of asian tourists.

The old market is the same as markets everywhere - hot, crowded, every particular type of stall selling exactly the same things and the smells of the food section. The difference with this one is that they are not as in your face as in most markets. The new market being constructed just across the river doesn’t look like it will have the same feel with it being very open and organized.

After a leisurely afternoon at the pool it was off to Pub Street again for more beer, cocktails and tonight some grilled frog.
