And a horse
What is a Wat without a horse??? It was Big and Magestic, and even had Buddas there which made it all the cooler. I loved it, Climed to the very top, freaked out a little when i realised that after climbing to the top of the largest religous Monument in the world that this would now mean that i would have to climb down ( why don't they put that in the small print? ) But it was worth the sweat and all the tears, which i didn't cry...much.
The tuk tuk picked us up in the morning and we had the whole day looking at some 5/6 Wats, Bayon was amazing, it has lots of big heads looking at you, well not you, at me and the other few hundred tourist what were swaming around. They aviously didn't get the message that i was seeing the temples that day... we saw Wats with trees growning out of them, though them and all around them, we climbed to the top of most of them, and in the 38oc heat this was no amble in Clisold park, this was some serious commitment. What was all worth it, the views, the crumbling buildings which are only 800 years old,
And a monk
What is a Wat without a Monk??? the carvings and even the bands which you find at the temples who play music for the tourists other then beg, as they are land mind victims. I loved it all.
Then the prize was Angkor Wat, i know everyone is going there just for this one, and i have met people who are only coming to Cambodia just for a few days just to see the temple...but it is amazing. Worth leaving it till sun-set though for us it rained and we missed the actual sun-set, but i was great i fell in love with Cambodia at that moment and the feeling has not gone.
There are heaps of kids that you find around around the temples and here now on the beach, trying to sell you bracelets and postcards, but they are kinda cute and not agressive with their sales pitch, not like in India where i was scard off by them. Also the cambodian kids are cute as hell, they look alot more Indian then the Laos and Thai preople, really different each country. I love the kids, Angelia Jolie totally has the right idea about adopting some of them, i am thinking i might
be leaving with a few in my bag. I'm sure they will fit!!!
The next moring we took a long slow boat ride to Battenbong, as small town a bit further along the river, the boat is safer then the rds which is not saying much, and you also get to see the amazing boat-house villages along the way, fitted with shops, homes, schools and even in enclosed football pitch all on the water. Cooler then cool. Having stopped off for a break i needed a wee, which entailed a shed with a hole in the floor so when you wee you are weeing with the fishes, you can actually see them...now that is cool.
Battenbong was nice, i had some great Cambodian curry, saw lots of French buildings, tried again to speak some more French to the Museum guard when buying a ticket...they all speak French here as well as in Laos, i guess thats what happens when you take over a country, you make them all speak your laungage...saves time i guess. But it was small and no matter how good the mufins were from the French Bakery, it was time to move on down here
Big Budda
comes in orange and orange to the coast.
The sun is hot and take it in turn in the day with the rain to come out, so you really do not know what kind of a day will be happening. They have some golden lions, and a nice-ish beach. I am going Island hoping and snorkling tomorrow well it has been a while since i did it with Nell down in Southern Thailand and Malaysia. But best of all i have put some new music on my i-pod at the Boom Boom shop, i was kinds scard to leave my i-pod with anyone other then me, but that chap who ran the shop was English which did not raise my trust levels, but he was cute, which did raise my trust levels. So i now have some news tunes, and some live comedy by Eddie Izzard, i love it. It will also mean that i can play some new tunes on the buses, to block out the terrible Cambodian sing-a-long Karoke...what the hell is that all about???
Have posted some more photos on my last blog entry and will put some more on this one.
Kisses Robin
p.s i have forgiven
