Hey guys!!!! Sorry I've been a bit lame with my blog, just so much stuff to do!! Well, from the Mekong Delta, we had a very long bus and boat ride into cambodia - took an hour at the border crossing.....We stayed for 2 nights in Pnomh Penh, and as usual, it was all AWESOME!!! I have to say, there was one downside, and that is that it was a really dirty place, with ALL types of refuse on the streets, so had to watch where you put your feet!! Quite an emotional place, and the one place I really wanted to visit...I have read a lot about the Pol Pot regime, and the genocide etc, so was good to see the place first hand. Went to Tuol Sleng museum, which was used as a prison during the reign of the Khymer Rouge, some very graphic pictures and stories.Especially photos of the prisoners, some as young as 2 or 3... Monday evening, we went to find Pete - a friend of my dad's girlfriend, who runs a bar in Pnomh Penh....it was very interesting!!!! Petes bar had no chairs, just cushions on the floor....veyr chilled, stayed and had a few beers
there which was cool. then we went to visit the Killing Fields just outside Pnomh Penh, it was an eerie place, this is where the prisoners were taken by the Khymer Rouge, and murdered. It was only discovered, when floods uncovered the dozens of mass graves and remains...some graves had 450+ bodies in them. Both Jess and I spent almost the entire time there in complete silence, it was a macabre and mesmerising place, but not in a good way... In the evening, we we went out for dinner and discovered Khymer beef stew, which you cook yourself at your table, very entertaining!!! I'll put the photos on now!! Hope you are all ok, love don x x
