Morning all it's 9am here Thursday morning so thought it was about time to update you on the last couple of days!!
I left it by saying we were going to watch the sunset we left the hotel At 3pm and our tuc tuc derive mice picked us up. Well we think that's what his name was, it's the easiest way we could say it lol. We set off to Angkor Wat and before you enter you have to stop to buy tickets. It's really strict they take your picture and it's then out on a ticket for you for your entry. We got a 3 day pass as we knew we were going out Wednesday too and they didn't sell 2 day passes. It was quite expensive €40 each for the 3 days!!! However once through the ticket point we soon realised why they charge you that much. It was beautiful, like something out if the Twilight films massive tall trees either side of you, monkeys everywhere and amazing temples. We were early for sunset so had a little look around a temple first which was beautiful. So old but so peaceful. We were given some incense sticks to
burn and as we stuck them into the pot they were burning in a man said some chant and gave us a red wrist band each which apparently means good luck.
After the temple we headed to sunset, we got cornered by lots of locals selling water and other drinks when we got off the tuc tuc but I'm glad we did as the lady told me I needed trousers on to get to the top so bought a fetching pair if white and purple elephant trousers!!! We started the walk up and it was getting steeper and steeper with rubble and stones everywhere, not something we were prepared for in our flip flops!! Once to the top though it was worth it the view went for miles and was just breath taking. We had about an hour until sunset so just sat watching the view it was great. We didn't have very good luck though as there was a massive cloud which ruined the sunset really. We managed to bet some pictures but it was t very good so we headed back down and got Mice to take us back to the hotel so we could get ready
for dinner.
We got ready and went straight back out to a restaurant we had driven past on the away back. We had to wait for another tuc tuc as it was too far to walk, when he dropped us at the restaurant he charged us €2. Brad only had €1 or €50 in his pocket so the guy said he had change for the 50 took it and out it in his wallet. Then he counted his money realising he didn't have enough change for us so brad said he would change it up in a restaurant. THEN he claimed he didn't have our €50 and gave it back to us, he emptied his wallet to show us but I could see he hadn't taken it all out so took his wallet and the 50 was in there, funny too because all his lonely was crumpled up and the 50 note was new and crisp, just like the money Brad gave him. He still claimed it was his and by this time a security guard had joined us I was going mad!!! Brad made me give it back and we tried arguing a bit more but it was
pointless we weren't getting it back and thought best to walk away in this case as didn't want to end up in a Cambodian cell for the night!! So yes, we were robbed in front of our own eyes!! As you can imagine it out a real downer in our evening and we literally had a little bit of dinner and headed back to the hotel to tell them what had happened. We told them but you could tell nothing was really going to come of it so as we were telling them how u shoot we were and about to walk away we've turned around seeing 2 people walk into the hotel and I've taken a double look and it was our 2 friends Alex and Matt!!!!! They had come a day early and surprised us, it was definitely the best surprise and the lift we needed. So we sat down and all had a drink together, it definitely lofted our spirits and put smiles back on our faces. So we planned for them to join us on our day out on Wednesday. We organised to get up for sunrise and then visit the Lake here and some local
villages.
So that was our eventful Tuesday I will update you in Wednesday in my next entry!!
Lots of love B&K xxxxxxxx
