Bayon was constructed late 12th century as a Buddhist temple. It has 37 towers, most with four carved faces. Who the faces represent is debatable, but one theory is that they could be a combination between Buddha and the reigning king, Jayavarman VII. This temple is largely intact with almost all parts accessible. This was Scott’s favorite: as he says “By far”!!
