* Boarded the train (upper class seating) for Mandalay; 14 hours’ ride, seating, sleeping, chatting with neighboring passengers; arrived in Mandalay the next day (Aug 18th) at around 0845. Picked up by my taxi-driver tourguide, got changed at Hotel Mandalay.
